The Biwako Ohashi toll bridges, viewed from the water. (Photograph taken 13th November 2008.) The fishing village of Katata and the 'Igosu 108' ferris wheel lie on the far side of the bridges. The ferris wheel was 108 m high, and when constructed in 1992 was the largest in the world. It sadly ceased operating in 2001 and was dismantled in October 2013.
