The fishing village on Okishima Island, the largest island in Lake Biwa. About 450 people live on the island, predominantly making a living from fishing. The island covers an area of 1.52 square km and is mostly forested. There are no cars on the island, with people using bicycles. (Photograph taken 4th August 2007.)
