Graduated in marine bioscience from the Department of Bioscience, Fukui Prefectural University.
Completed a postgraduate course in marine bioscience at the Department of Bioscience, Fukui Prefectural University.
Obtained a doctoral degree in fisheries science at the Faculty of Agriculture, Kinki University in 2011.
In 2003 became a Shiga Prefectural employee (fisheries) at the Shiga Prefecture Fisheries Experiment Station. From April 2011, started work at the Lake Biwa Museum.
