  Career
I graduated in biology from Yokohama City University's Science Department, and then completed a master's degree at Tsukuba University and a doctorate degree at Tokyo Metropolitan University. I then became a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Special Researcher before joining the Shiga Prefectural Board of Education Cultural Facility Establishment Room. I then worked for the Lake Biwa Museum Project Office, Shiga Prefecture Board of Education and then, from 1996, the Lake Biwa Museum.

   Specialty
1. The ecology of protozoa, especially ciliates.
2. The ecology of attached fauna.
3. The ecology of ciliates with symbiotic algae.
4. The ecology of large branchiopods in rice fields.
