At the museum discover the way the lake formed, the ancient life that flourished in the lake and around its shores and the way the lake has shaped local cultures and customs. Step into the watery world of the lake with a walk around the massive freshwater aquarium and come eye to eye with the fish and other animals that live in the lake today.

The first three galleries each span a different time period - millions of years ago (Geological History), thousands to hundreds of years ago (Human History Gallery) and decades to recent times (The Environment and Our Lives). The aquarium and outdoor exhibits features specimens alive today. The Discovery Room is a great place for children to discover nature and local culture and make sure you don't miss our special exhibitions.
